Moon (2009)
‘Moon’ is a story of an astronaut spending his last few days on the moon — before returning to earth — when something goes awry. It may have a simple premise but it is a movie with philosophical undertones that slowly and mysteriously builds to a great climax leaving you plenty to ponder upon.
Predestination (2014)
The most recently released film on this list, ‘Predestination’ has slowly started to gain a cult following. When you watch this smartly conceived film with a smoothly interwoven time-travel plot, you realize why. It’s impossible to not watch the film a second time just to confirm that you understood everything correctly.
Interstellar (2014)
There are flaws in this film. But what is also true about ‘Interstellar’ is that it is a highly ambitious film that explores the complex and many yet to be practically proven scientific theories, from black holes to time-travel to four-dimensional space the film is a treat for every science nerd.
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (2003)
Eternal Sunshine is as much a science-fiction film as it is a heart-breaking romantic drama. The concept — of memory-erasing — that the film is based on is so mind-boggling that most of the first-time viewers find themselves in a maze of complex theories. A difficult to follow plot also doesn’t help the matters. The true beauty of the film is only revealed to those who have fully understood it.
The Matrix (1999)
Many think ‘ The Matrix’ to be an action film full of cool stunts. But look a little deeper and you find an amazingly complex and well-thought-out plot that may require several viewing before you get a hang of everything that’s happening in the film. Action apart, it is also one of the best science-fiction films ever made.
Inception (2010)
When you have countless forums, articles, blog-posts, think-pieces being written about a spinning (or falling) top, it is enough evidence of the popularity and influence of ‘Inception’ in pop-culture. And I have no doubt in my mind that it will remain fodder for discussion and arguments for years to come. But the greatest service that ‘Inception’ did to science-fiction movies is that it made them cool again.
The Dark Knight Trilogy
Having Said trilogy, I mean Batman begins, The Dark knight and The Dark Knight Rises. Nolan’s Adaptation of Batman’s Character was far more grounded and felt real compared to any other series of Batman. And of course, there was THE JOKER played by Late Heath Ledger.

Transcendence (2014)
Dr. Will Caster seeks to be at the top of his game when it comes to artificial intelligence. However, his thirst to perfect it backfires. This movie has got its flaws but keeping aside the flaws, a beautiful story.
Gravity (2013)
An engineer on her first time on a space mission and an astronaut on his final expedition have to survive in space after they are hit by debris while spacewalking.
